MOSCOW, Dec 16 (PRIME) -- The feasibility study of a natural gas pipeline from Russia to China through Mongolia will be ready very soon, President Vladimir Putin said on Thursday after a meeting with his Mongolian counterpart Ukhnaagiin Khuurelsukh.

“The project of the transit pipeline from Russia to China through the territory of Mongolia is at a stage of practical consideration. The work is going on, and it is going on successfully. It can become prolongation of the Sila Sibiri 2 Russian pipeline. The optimal route and length have been outlined … A feasibility study is being prepared. I think it will be ready in a few weeks,” he said.

The two presidents discussed energy cooperation between Russia and Mongolia. Russian companies are interested in working on the Mongolian fuels and lubricants market, Putin said, adding that Russian oil major Rosneft was undergoing certification as a refueling operator in the international airport of Ulaanbaatar.
